FotoWeb

Service

Stack measurement and quality assessment using photo processing technology (FotoWeb)

Assortments

Roundwood and chipped wood (fuel wood/chips)

Service Overview

The service allows users to photograph vehicle loads using the FotoWeb mobile application, with a reference stick and link them to electronic waybills, and submit this data to the FotoWeb web application. SIA VMF LATVIA then utilizes digital information system tools to perform the following:
  • For roundwood: Measures stack geometry (height, length, width), determines the solid volume coefficient, calculates volume, and assesses quality;
  • For chipped wood: Determines the height measurement differential between vehicle’s container top and chipped wood surface and calculates the load volume.

The recipient of the service provides:

  • A mobile device (Android OS, camera, gyroscope);
  • Creation of mobile application users;
  • Lighting for vehicle loads during dark hours;
  • Storage and rollout of control bundles on pallets.

SIA VMF LATVIA provides:

  • The FotoWeb mobile application and its maintenance;
  • Consultations on mobile device selection, user creation, and other related issues;
  • Practical training for application users;
  • Technical support for users;
  • Measurement of control bundles;
  • Supply of a one-time paid reference stick and its regular calibration;
  • Traceability of data and results for every load.

Service Result is a document certifying the measurement (testing report), the content and accuracy of which are determined by binding regulatory acts.

Test reports are available to timber suppliers and recipients in papiNet data standard *XML and *PDF format on the fully integrated DACE business document data exchange platform within two working days of data submission.

Note:
Conversion factors for chipped wood from loose cubic meters to solid cubic meters – chips 0.36, shavings/bark 0.28

Quality Control and Accuracy Management

To ensure high-quality volume measurement and quality assessment, an accuracy management system is maintained in accordance with standard LVS 82:2024 "Measurement of Round Timber".

Control measurements are performed within this system - regularly and randomly selected assortments, bundles or stacks are measured using a more precise measurement method to ensure continuous accuracy management.

Tariffs (Excluding VAT)

0.30 EUR/m3 – Preparation of a testing report within two working days.
0.40 EUR/m3 – Accelerated preparation of a testing report.
